Noční můry fungují na lokace (a karty všeobecně), které mají nějaké přerušení konce fáze, protože jejich efekty se odehrávají ještě ve fázi (výzev). To znamená, že Noční můry zahrané na Zeď nebo Rudou baštu znemožní soupeři dostat 2 žetony moci nebo 2 karty. Na druhou stranu efekty odehrávající se na konci fáze (například Benjen zabitý Slzami z Lysu) jsou již Nočními můrami nepostiženy.
